Join us for a walk on the wild side around Duxford Village!
In July, Duxford C of E Community Primary School suffered a devastating fire which caused extensive damage. The aim of this event is both to enjoy a socially distanced family activity and to raise funds which will be equally distributed between Friends of Duxford School, the preschool and the DX Club.
Families and residents of Duxford Village are invited to make 2D and 3D animals to be displayed in front gardens, driveways or in windows over the weekend of 12th and 13th September 2020 (keep scrolling for inspiration!). If you lack a creative streak, perhaps you have a large lion teddy bear or snake that you could display. These will be added to a map which can be downloaded from this website and then individuals or families can complete a walk around the village finding as many animals as they can. The walk is free, but please do consider donating to the fundraising efforts.

There is also the option to take part in a safari treasure hunt on both the 12th and 13th September - there will be information placed in certain locations, marked on a paper map and an answer sheet to fill in. This extra element of the walk costs £5 to enter and there are some wonderful prizes to be won thanks to our sponsors. Of course, there is no obligation to enter the treasure hunt and if you wish to only complete the safari walk, then please do!

If you do wish to take part in the treasure hunt, simply book a 5 minute slot to pick up your map, clue and answer sheet from outside Duxford Community Centre (you can do this by clicking below). The 5 minute slot must be adhered to to ensure social distancing both at the starting point and around the village.
The £5 is payable on the day - please use the available hand sanitiser to place your money in the box and to pick up your sheets. Please ensure you bring the correct change as there will be no change available due to the current conditions.

The treasure hunt slots run from 9:45 to 15:45 on both days and the walk should take no more than an hour, even for little legs. All sheets must be returned by 17:00 to be entered into the draw.

Please note that if there is a football game on the recreation ground during your slot, please either use the back entrance to the recreation ground through the park or walk down the path next to the gravel drive towards the Community Centre, avoiding the football game!

NB. The Duxford Chatterbox incorrectly advertised the treasure hunt as costing £2 - this was a misprint and I'm sure you will agree that the cause and the quality of the prizes makes a £5 charge a reasonable one indeed!
